Perfect Playback with PlayAUDIO12 - Our new interface for live musicians

Today's the day we show our new baby off to the world: the interface we've all been working on furtively behind the scenes, and the one we think might, just might change the way people look at running computer audio and MIDI live...

It is our great pleasure then, to introduce you to the PlayAUDIO12.

The interface you've been waiting for - the iConnectivity PlayAUDIO12

The interface you've been waiting for - the iConnectivity PlayAUDIO12

At iConnectivity, we're staffed by seasoned, experienced musicians who have "trodden the boards" in some cases for decades. Our products aren't driven by accountants or suits, they're driven by our passion for music creation and performance.

There is nothing more frustrating than having your gear let you down on a gig. We started thinking - if you break a string you can grab another guitar. If your amp blows a valve you can quickly plug in your spare amplifier or swap a valve.

What if your computer fails you on a gig though? What then? You could lose your backing tracks, click track, MIDI program changes, or even more catastrophically, all your instruments if you're running softsynths.

Our answer was seemingly simple, yet one that had so far involved huge cost and complexity: run two computers, synchronised, tethered to one dedicated multichannel Audio/MIDI interface. The seeds were sown for the PlayAUDIO12.

Our wish list for the PlayAUDIO12 was simple, but demanding:

  • Audio/MIDI failover protection - the ability to connect two computers and use them as a redundancy failover setup.
  • Lots of balanced analog outputs, which can be plugged directly into the house PA system, without fear of being damaged by Phantom Power (PlayAUDIO12 has ten of them).
  • A dedicated stereo headphone mix, with a powerful headphone amplifier for on-stage monitoring
  • Powerful MIDI connections and integration via USB or Ethernet MIDI. Up to 12 MIDI ports with 16 channels per port.
  • Simple, intuitive controls and software.

We've come up with what we believe is the best, most reliable, cost-effective (and possibly the first) dedicated live playback Audio/MIDI interface ever made.

The truly unique feature of the PlayAUDIO12 is the failover/redundancy feature; should one of your synchronised computers fail at any point, PlayAUDIO12 immediately and seamlessly switches over to the backup computer.

That's both your Audio and MIDI instantly switched over at a sample/note level resolution, so fast and so seamless that neither you or your audience will know. All completely automatically and without fuss or bother.
